And this is a quick and easy Halloween treat recipe. Chocolate bark is incredibly easy to make.. melt your chocolate, add in your lollies, leave to set and break into shards! Turning it into a Halloween themed bark is easy too!
Gather your supplies. I used:
All available from us at Sweet Traditions as well as a STACK of other lollies and chocolate you could use.
Chop the Fantales (they're chewy caramel squares coated in milk chocolate) into pieces. Dipping your knife in hot water helps when cutting these up.
MELTING THE CHOCOLATE
I used a microwave safe jug to melt the Hershey's chocolate. You can also use a double boiler on the stove top. The trick is to heat the chocolate slowly so it doesn't burn! Break the chocolate into chunks and on 10-20second bursts, heat in the microwave, stirring constantly. Once the chocolate is smooth, runny and glossy - you're ready to go.
Grab a baking tray or wire cooling rack and line with baking paper. Pour the chocolate into the centre and using the back of a spoon, spread thinly all over the paper. You don't want it too thick -- a nice thin layer is what you're aiming for.
Now the fun bit.. decorating! Press your chosen lollies into the melted chocolate.
Sprinkle the chopped Fantale chocolates into the mix and add in the candy corn, jelly filled Dino eggs and the candy teeth. Then sprinkle about 1/2 a packet of cherry Pop Rocks over the top -- or use the whole packet if you like some extra pop!
Leave your tray of Halloween chocolate in the fridge for about 30 minutes so it sets. Once ready, carefully break into shards and your Halloween "bark" is ready.
Wrap in cellophane and tie with ribbon for a Halloween gift or share with friends and family. There's so many possibilities with this recipe!
Here's another version.. Milka chocolate is an incredibly milky, delicious Swiss chocolate that comes in a variety of flavours including Oreo, Hazelnut and Happy Cows. Shop for them here. (add link)
